SaBRe featured in inaugural Schmidt Sciences Impact Report
We are thrilled to share that our SaBRe (Sargassum BioRefinery) center is featured in the inaugural Schmidt Sciences Impact Report!
The report, “The Search for a Sargassum Solution,” highlights our centers mission to transform Sargassum like seaweeds from a complex environmental challenge into a sustainable resource for biofuels and several other high-value bioproducts. It is an honor to see our interdisciplinary efforts recognized alongside 35 other incredible global projects.
A special shoutout to Debashish Bhattacharya, his team at Rutgers University, and all collaborators at SaBRe (Jose L Avalos, Loretta Roberson, Sagar Khare, Yalin Li, Allen McGonagill, Daniel Robledo, Yasuo Yoshikuni, Ah-Hyung (Alissa) Park, Aaron Moment, Hauke Kite-Powell, Liz Diaz). Debashish’s pioneering work at SaBRe is a focal point of this feature, showcasing how fundamental biology driven discoveries can lead to meaningful, real-world applications.

Thanks to Genevieve Croft, Kirsten Allen, and the entire Schmidt Sciences team for their incredible support and work in bringing these stories to the forefront. This progress would not be possible without the visionary support of our sponsors to work on bold ideas that requires interdisciplinary collaborations to push the boundaries of science and engineering.
